Jerome Transportation Plan

Transpo assisted the City of Jerome with their Transportation Master Plan and Pavement Management System (PMS). The Transportation Plan work program included an evaluation of existing conditions and development of a 20-year multi-modal capital improvement and maintenance plan based in part on the data collection efforts in the Pavement Management System program.

Transpo evaluated and summarized Jerome’s existing transportation system and its general condition. This evaluation included an evaluation of the City’s street system, traffic county inventory, and LOS analysis. Transpo identified critical gaps in the sidewalks and multi-use path system, with consideration of major pedestrian and bicycle trip generators. The travel forecast model that Transpo constructed as part of the South Jerome Interchange Management Plan was updated and expanded to estimate future travel patterns and traffic volumes.

Transpo developed and implemented a public involvement plan (PIP) to engage the Jerome community in the planning process and help build consensus towards the Transportation Master Plan findings and recommendations. The PIP included four primary elements: stakeholder interviews, Technical Advisory Committee meetings, city council work session, and community work sessions.

This project won the Idaho Transportation Department’s 2007 Excellence in Engineering Award for Transportation Planning – Small Projects.
